Bare Escentuals Mineral Makeup

Bare Escentuals Mineral Makeup

Bare Escentuals has been creating makeup products since 1976 and started in San Francisco, Ca. I was shocked to hear that, especially since the President Leslie Blodgett looks so young. So could it be the minerals that are keeping her youth?

Well I’m not so certain but who knows…maybe? So what do I think of Bare Escentuals? Not for everyday. The reason I say that is because when time is of the essence it just doesn’t work out and half the time I end up spilling the powder all over my counter tops and have to spend more time wiping it up. Though, I’ve heard that spilling is an issue with a few brands out there. It’s also not ideal for travel because of the same reason.

I also felt a slight tingling in my face after I applied it and I thought it was just hot and sticky that day but tried it again and felt the same thing. So after looking up Bare Escentuals on makeupalley and reading posts regarding the itchiness I thought, no wonder! As far as coverage goes, well it’s pretty good, and it really does feel like I have nothing on. But I’ll save it for when I have plenty of time to apply which is very rare.

I’ve also heard the color range is very limited and not everyone can find a shade that’s right for them. I was fortunate because the Medium Beige was perfect for me!

With all of this said I still don’t think I’ll get rid of any of the Bare Escentuals makeup that I currently own but I’ll definitely have fun trying other brands.

See, I told you I’d review one that I’ve tried myself. 🙂

What are your thoughts?

What? Mineral Makeup is Not Regulated?

Tuesday, September 23, 2008 23:28 No Comments

CBS recently posted an article about the fact that mineral makeup is not regulated under FDA guidelines.

“They’re not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration so you are pretty much at the mercy of the company,” said Deleo.

This actually isn’t new news to me. I’ve always known that mineral makeup isn’t regulated by the FDA, and that’s why I frequent the online forums and review sites, just to get a real opinion. An opinion that matters, yours and mine.

“I break out a lot less with this and it’s natural it feels lighter,” said one.

“It goes on really smoothly and it’s flawless,” said another believer.

I’ve heard comments like that all over Makeup Alley. But, I’ve also heard that it can be quite itchy to some skin types. So, be sure to do your research.

Aqua Elements Collection by Lauren Hutton: Review

Aqua Elements Collection

Aqua Elements Collection

Ok, so I’ve been waiting to get my hands on this line ever since I heard about it in Lucky Magazine.

I must admit that I’m very impressed. I really think that it was better for me than the Bare Escentuals and their mineral line. I’ve heard a lot of people comparing this Lauren Hutton Collection to the Bare Minerals line, but again, I gotta say that I liked it better.

I didn’t get the tingling that the Bare foundation gave me. It was weightless and smooth, and best of all, it didn’t feel like I was wearing any makeup. 🙂

Some other benefits that I’ve heard about it are:

  • It doesn’t cause itchiness (very true)
  • It’s the first water-mineral makeup
  • There isn’t much need for touch-ups
  • It doesn’t fade or settle into fine lines
  • It doesn’t leave a shine

As with any makeup, I think that your skin tone and texture will most likely determine whether or not you like the stuff. She has a little more info on her site about skin tone, so you might want to check it out.

There are like three different packages that she offers too, the Classic, Premier and Luxury. Here is the rundown on each:

Classic Collection Includes

  • Base Elements
  • Color Elements
  • Loose Powder Foundation
  • Instructional Brochure
  • FREE Loose Powder Brush
  • FREE Aqua Elements Tinted Moisturizer
  • FREE Spot/Sheer Concealer Duo Brush
  • FREE Eye Shadow Duo Brush
  • FREE Lip Pencil
  • Price: $42.95+$8.95/shipping & handling

Premier Collection Includes

Luxury Collection Includes

If you already know which one you wanna get, you can just go here.

You can see some reviews from around the web, and from my readers below. Don’t forget to leave your review as well.

See Diane Ranger of Colorescience

Sunday, September 21, 2008 22:44 No Comments

I just read that The Green Room Spa is hosting an event at their location in Green, Ohio that’s going to feature Diane Ranger who most of you know, is the founder of Colorescience.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a personal consultation with the inventor of mineral based cosmetics and a makeup application by nationally recognized makeup artist Michael McCarthy. – The Green Room Spa.

Ahh!, I wish I could go. Is anyone planning on going to this?

Let me know. 🙂
